When Monica moved to Washington to live with her uncle, she was without direction. She had not completed high school and was unsure about how to establish herself. Then she learned about the GED Program at Longview Goodwill’s Work Opportunity Center. “I was nervous but I tried it out and I ended up liking it.”
Monica passed the pretests and enrolled in the program. Despite some personal issues, she attended class regularly and soon had earned her GED. Her next challenge was finding a job.
“Goodwill helped me get an internship with the City of Longview and helped coordinate my transportation. I enjoyed this job and my employer seemed to really like me.”
Today, Monica is happily employed as a nanny.
